Gijin Kareshi

Gijin Kareshi (擬人カレシ) is the Japanese version of Animal Boyfriend, made by Ambition.

How To Download The Game

Because Gijin Kareshi is region-locked, playing it outside of Japan through normal means won't work. Instead, here are some alternate ways to be able to play.

Android: QooApp

Download QooApp on your Android. Then, open QooApp and search for "擬人カレシ", and it should pop up.

iOS: Japanese Apple Store

Use an account that can access the Japanese Apple Store. Then, search for "擬人カレシ", and it should pop up.

Student Name Display

1/2 An update was available in Gijin Kareshi on March 15, 2022. You can now select "Student name display" or "Number display" for the button to switch the students to be exhibited in the main room. The option can be set in Menu/Settings > Student switching button settings.

7th, 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th Student Slot

1/2 The 7th slot was introduced on March 16, 2021. A gift for the 10th anniversary of their release. The 8th slot was introduced on March 15, 2022. A gift for the 11th anniversary of their release. The 7th Student Slot is unlocked when the total of levels are equal to 350 or higher The 8th Student Slot is unlocked when the total of levels are equal to 400 or higher, etc...

Beginner's Quest Update

1/2 On September 15th, 2021, Beginner's Quest received a content update on the former list of rewards. Some principal tasks kept the same, others were updated to be advanced. The official list of new items and step-by-step are available on the Beginner's Quest page.

Tutorial Renewal & Level Restriction

1/1 On December 14, 2020, the tutorial system received an update. In this recent version, you can customize your student beforehand with hairstyles, faces, and outfits. Formerly only available through the shop system. All parted from their level restriction. You can also select colors that were previously in need of G to be purchased, for free. However, keep in mind that once you decide to use the normal shop, those colors and/or items will still be G-priced. The level restriction, on the other hand, is removed permanently from all the items from Shop. It doesn't apply to the English Version.

Sleep Settings

1/5 The Sleep Settings is a system implemented in Gijin Kareshi on October 15, 2020. It is an extension of the closet function, where you are able to dress your students on pajamas while they are sleeping. You can switch the image of the chibi animal to his sleeping human form. On July 12, 2021, the system was implemented on Animal Boyfriend.

Updated Brand Shop

1/2 In the Brand Shop, you'll find clothes unavailable in any other store or gacha. The shops are G only. To access the shop, go to Kare Room and scroll down until you see the shop button (this will be located with 3 other buttons just below the current event banner). Clicking on it will open a menu with several different stores. The Brand Shop will be the very first one at the top of the left column. There are currently 6 different brands in the Brand Shop: Chouchou lapin Garden R/F Twinkle Kitty Fable fox FINE MARK PREMIUM R In each shop, you can buy individual pieces of clothing, or you can buy full sets.

Updated Recycle Robot

1/3 The Recycle Robot has a larger selection of exchangeable items. Most of them seem to be recolors of some previous Gacha items.

Updated Animal Features

1/3 New ears/tails available for animal species, only buyable in the Premium Shop. You can equip these from the closet function and there's a special slot for them. Remember: They are exclusive for the specified species, you cannot use the items in different species.

Kemomimi Snap

1/3 When you do the Onedari Dates, you'll earn love points you can use in here. This seems to function like a fashion contest system.

Onedari Date

1/6 You can gain pink date tickets from events and use them to go on dates with your students. It seems possible to earn points to use them for the Kemomimi Snap function. What your student says during these dates are dependent on their main type. The feature was released in January 28, 2016.
